What is hardware?
Hardware asset management is available with Jira Service Management Premium and Enterprise. To set it up, you'll need Jira admin and Assets admin permissions.
Hardware is the individual physical devices your organization tracks as assets — for example, laptops, desktops, tablets, mobile phones, monitors, servers, and network gear. Each device is stored as hardware so you can see what you own, who has it, where it is, and where it is in its lifecycle.
Hardware captures details such as:
Asset tag and serial number — the identifiers that uniquely track the device.
Status — where the device is in its lifecycle, such as In stock, In use, In repair, or Retired.
Model — the hardware model the device is based on (see What are hardware models?).
Primary user,Location, and Stockroom — who has the device and where it's held.
Purchase date,purchase price, and book value — the financial details used for reporting and depreciation.
Hardware assets connect to the rest of your data: to models in your catalogue, to stockrooms where stock is held, to people and locations, and to the work items raised to procure, repair, or dispose of them.
Hardware is stored as objects in Assets. What you can see and change depends on your Assets permissions on the hardware assets schema.
