What are stockrooms?
Hardware asset management is available with Jira Service Management Premium and Enterprise.
To set it up, you must be a Jira admin and an Assets admin.
A stockroom represents a place where you store and manage hardware before it's assigned or deployed — for example, a central warehouse, a regional depot, on-site storage, or a secure room. Stockrooms let you track where your available hardware is held so your team knows what stock is on hand and where.
Each stockroom record captures details such as:
Type — the kind of storage location, such as central warehouse, regional depot, on-site storage, secure room, IT kiosk, or disposal area.
Location — the geographic location the stockroom is linked to.
Manager — the person responsible for managing the stockroom.
Parent stockroom — a larger stockroom this one sits within, for hierarchical storage structures.
Stockrooms also work with stock rules, which set the minimum and maximum quantities of a hardware model to keep in a stockroom, so you can keep inventory topped up. You manage stock rules from your hardware inventory — see Manage stock rules.
Stockrooms are stored as objects in Assets. What you can see and change depends on your Assets permissions on the hardware assets schema.
