What is hardware asset management?
Hardware asset management is available with Jira Service Management Premium and Enterprise.
To set it up, you must be a Jira admin and Assets admin.
Hardware asset management helps IT teams track physical hardware — such as laptops, monitors, servers, and network gear — from the moment it's ordered until it's retired or disposed of. It builds on Assets in Jira Service Management, so your hardware is stored as structured objects you can search, report on, and connect to the work your team does every day.
With hardware asset management, you can:
Keep an accurate register of all your hardware and its details, such as model, status, assignee, and location.
Group assets by model and manage stock across stockrooms, so you know what you have and where it is.
Track requests and work — like procurement, repairs, and returns — against the hardware they relate to.
See your hardware at a glance on the overview dashboard, with charts, number tiles, and insights from Rovo.
Hardware asset management brings these capabilities together in one place, built on a common data model so your hardware data stays consistent across Jira Service Management and Assets.
Hardware asset management is part of Assets in Jira Service Management. Your hardware data lives in Assets, so anyone with the right Assets permissions can view and work with it.
