We're updating our terminology in Jira

'Issue' is changing to 'work item'. You might notice some inconsistencies while this big change takes place.

Use the calendar to view your work items

You can view and schedule work items across your Jira Service Management service projects using the calendar view. Like queues and boards, the calendar provides a different way to view your work items, focused on the date and time the work item is due, or the period of time over which the work will take place.

Viewing your work items in a calendar gives you a visual representation of your deadlines and project timelines, making it easier for your team to manage their tasks and time effectively. You can also use it to help identify any overlapping tasks or potential bottlenecks in your workflow, so that you can fix potential incidents before they become problems.

From your project’s navigation bar, select Views, then Calendar to open the calendar view of your work items. If Views isn’t available in your navigation, learn how to enable views on your service project.

By default, work items are shown using the Start date and Due date fields. Learn how to select your own date fields for work items on the calendar.

カレンダーの機能

Month view: see an overview of your scheduled work items and requests by month.

Work item scheduling: select 'Unscheduled' () to open a side panel where you can drag and drop any of your existing work items onto a day of the month. The calendar will automatically fill in the issue's due date field with this date. To extend the work item across multiple days, open the work item and fill in the start date field, or drag the work item across the required days.

Filter and search: Search for and filter work items on the calendar by request type, status, assignee, and add more filter options as you need.

View settings: By default, weekends are disabled (with Mon-Fri visible) and if you choose to show weekends, the week starts on Sunday, but you can change this at any time. You can also decide whether ‘done’ work items should be shown or hidden on the calendar.

Legend: Work items added to the calendar will show the request type icon, work item key, description, assignee, and the work item’s progress. The colour and icon let you know at a glance if your work items are done, overdue, in progress, or to-do.

  • Green work items with a tick icon are done, and the work item has been resolved.

  • Red work items with a clock icon are overdue, meaning they are not yet done, and the due date has passed. These work items could be in progress or still to-do.

  • Blue work items with an arrow icon are in progress, and are still being worked on by your team.

  • Grey work items with a dashed circle icon are still to-do, but not overdue.

Global filter: By selecting the more menu actions menu () on the calendar and selecting Configure views, admins can set a wider filter that determines which work items can appear on the calendar and board views. The filter is based on Jira Query Language (JQL) and can include one or more projects.
