Change your display mode in Jira Service Management and sync across other apps

概要

Use display mode to choose how Jira Service Management and other supported Atlassian apps look. The mode can be set to light, dark, or match your system setting. You can set a global display mode that syncs across supported apps, or set a different mode just for Jira Service Management.

These settings only apply to you and won't affect anyone else in your workspace or site. You can change your display mode at any time.

Note: This feature is rolling out gradually. If you don't see these options, they aren't available on your site yet. Rollout is scheduled to reach all users by 2026年05月11日.

表示モードの仕組み

Display mode works in three interconnected layers:

1. Your device's system theme

Your computer or mobile device has its own system-level theme setting (usually light or dark mode). By default, Jira Service Management and other supported Atlassian apps match this system setting automatically.

2. Global display mode

Global display mode is a personal setting that applies the same display preference across all supported Atlassian apps. You manage this from your Display settings page, which you can access from Jira Service Management or any other supported app.

  • Set to match system by default – When you first access the product, global display mode is set to "Match system"

  • Override globally – You can change your global setting to always use light or dark mode, regardless of your system theme

3. App display mode (product-specific)

App display mode lets you set a different appearance for Jira Service Management alone, overriding your global setting. This is useful if you prefer the service desk to look different from your other Atlassian apps.

Example: Suppose your system is set to dark mode. You use most Atlassian apps in dark mode via the global setting, but you prefer to use Jira Service Management in light mode:

  • Your global display mode remains on "Match system" (dark, following your device)

  • In Jira Service Management, you set app display mode to light

  • Result: The service desk appears in light mode while Confluence, Projects, and other apps continue using dark mode

Supported apps and experiences

Global display mode syncs across these Atlassian Cloud apps and experiences:

  • Jira (Software Cloud)

  • Jira Service Management

  • Jira Product Discovery

  • Confluence Cloud

  • プラットフォーム アプリ: ホーム、チーム、プロジェクト、ゴール

  • Rovo アプリ: 検索、チャット、Studio

Mobile support: Global display mode applies to mobile web (using a phone browser). Native mobile apps are not currently supported.

Change your display mode in Jira Service Management

Change the service desk's display mode when you want it to look different from your other Atlassian apps. If the product is using your global display mode, you'll see "Synced across apps" indicated in the settings.

To change your Jira Service Management display mode:

  1. In the top navigation, select your profile avatar.

  2. Select Appearance.

  3. Under App display mode, select one of the following:

    • Match system – The service desk matches your device's system theme

    • Light – The product always appears in light mode

    • Dark – The product always appears in dark mode

  4. Your changes apply immediately.

Note: This setting only affects Jira Service Management. Other supported Atlassian apps continue using the global display mode (or their own app display mode settings, if you've configured them).

グローバル表示モードを変更する

Change your global display mode when you want a consistent appearance across multiple Atlassian apps.

To change your global display mode:

  1. In the top navigation, select your profile avatar.

  2. Select Appearance.

  3. [Customize display settings (表示設定のカスタマイズ)] を選択します。

  4. On the Display settings page, under Global display mode, select one of the following:

    • Match system – All supported apps match your device's system theme (default)

    • Light – All supported apps appear in light mode

    • Dark – All supported apps appear in dark mode

  5. 選択した設定は、グローバル設定を使用するサポート対象のすべてのアプリに適用されます。

To turn off global sync:

  • In Jira Service Management, set the app display mode to light or dark (instead of match system), or

  • Set a different app display mode in an individual app like Confluence or Projects

よくあるご質問

Q: Will my display mode choice sync to my other Atlassian apps?

A: Not automatically. By default, all your apps use your global display mode, which is set to "Match system." If you change the app display mode in Jira Service Management, only the service desk changes; your other apps remain synced to the global setting (or their own app settings, if you've customized them). To sync a specific light or dark mode across all apps, change your global display mode instead.

Q: What happens if my system theme changes?

A: If you have display mode set to "Match system," your apps automatically update to follow your device's theme. For example, if you switch your computer from light mode to dark mode, Jira Service Management and your other supported apps will update immediately. If you've set a specific light or dark mode, they'll stay in that mode regardless of your system theme.

Q: Can I sync display mode on my mobile device?

A: Global display mode syncs on mobile web (using a web browser on your phone). Native mobile apps (like the Jira and Confluence mobile apps) don't currently support global display mode sync, but they may honor your device's system theme setting if you have "Match system" enabled on web.

Q: Why don't I see these display mode options?

A: This feature is rolling out gradually across Atlassian Cloud. If you don't see these options in your profile settings, your site hasn't received the feature yet. Check back soon, or contact your Atlassian admin for updates on your site's rollout status.

Q: Can my Atlassian admin enforce a display mode for the team?

A: No. Display mode is a personal user preference and cannot be enforced or locked by administrators. Each user can choose their own display mode independently.
