Get started with Jira Service Management for admins
Your first stop for learning how to get started with Jira Service Management.
Atlassian Intelligence is available and automatically activated for all products on Premium and Enterprise plans. Organization admins can manage Atlassian Intelligence preferences from Settings > Atlassian Intelligence in Atlassian Administration.
This article describes an experimental version of the feature that offers an alternative method for accessing alert groups. It’s currently available to a specific set of customers that are participating in the beta release for alert grouping only. Read more about Atlassian Intelligence features.
The Alert Grouping feature by Atlassian Intelligence is now integrated into the List View of alerts, showing you both individual alerts and alert groups on a single, cohesive interface. This enhancement improves discoverability and your interaction with alert groups without major workflow changes, reducing alert fatigue by managing fewer groups instead of many individual alerts.
Handle individual alerts and groups in one place, eliminating the need to switch views.
Perform bulk actions, like acknowledging or closing all alerts within a group, directly from the List View.
Use advanced filtering and searching to customize views based on specific criteria.
When you apply filters, the Show alerts ungrouped option shows. If there are groups in the search results, select this option to view alerts within those groups that meet your criteria as individual alerts.

The List View is the default interface for managing alerts and AI-powered alert groups. To access and work with alerts and alert groups in List View:
Activate Atlassian Intelligence if you haven’t done so already.
You must be an organization admin to activate Atlassian Intelligence for Jira Service Management.
Go to the Alerts list from either Your Work or your team’s Operations.
Switch to List View if you’re not on it already.
The list includes alert groups generated by Atlassian Intelligence, if any. The alert count is only indicative of those alerts that you have permissions to view.
The banner at the top shows basic metrics associated with alert groups created, if any, in an expandable/collapsible section:
Noise reduction
The percentage reduction in the volume of alerts as a result of grouping. The higher the percentage, the more effective the grouping.
Groups created
The number of groups created since you started using the Alert Grouping feature.
Just like each alert has a "Tiny ID", every alert group generated by Atlassian Intelligence has its own ID too, preceded by the letter “G”. For example, G1234.
In cases where alerts may indicate a significant problem requiring specialized management, you can escalate the alert to an incident. You can do this by creating an incident by selecting alerts from the alert list or linking them to an existing incident. Read more about creating incidents from alerts.
If you select both groups and individual alerts, the following actions apply:
Create an incident: Select individual alerts and groups as needed and select Create incident.
Read more about creating an incident.
Link to an existing incident: Select individual alerts and groups as needed and select Link incident.
Individual alerts in a selected group that you have no permissions to view aren’t counted when performing bulk actions.
To view the details of a group of alerts at a deeper level:
From the List View, select any group.
The Alerts tab opens by default.
Optionally, make a team member the assignee of the group. An assignee is a team member who owns the group. The group has no assignee by default.
In the group detail view, the following details are available:
| Title | An Atlassian Intelligence-generated title of the group based on the alerts contained in it. |
Ack all | Acknowledge all the alerts in the group in one go.
Close all | Close all the alerts in the group in one go.
Snooze all | Snooze all the alerts in the group in one go.
Delete all | Delete all the alerts in the group in one go.
| Priority | The priority of the group derived by Atlassian Intelligence will match the highest priority alert in the group. |
| Status | The current status of the group.
|
| Grouping stage | The current stage of grouping
|

| Grouped by | Content similarity, which means Atlassian Intelligence has added incoming alerts to this group because they’re about the same topic and/or have similar content. |

You can perform bulk actions on multiple alerts as you do in the alert list view. To acknowledge, close, create an incident, link an incident, or execute other available actions, you can select multiple alerts in the group and apply the action.
Based on the alert groups created, Atlassian Intelligence makes insightful suggestions in terms of past responders, and past alert groups, to help the on-call teams to respond faster.
To create an incident from the alerts in a group:
Select alerts in the group as appropriate.
Select Create incident. You can also do this from the What more can you do? panel.
The Create issue dialog comes up. Atlassian Intelligence suggests a title, a description, and a priority for the incident you’re creating.
Edit any AI-suggested value in the form as necessary. Also, use the thumbs-up or thumbs-down icon to let us know if they make sense or not.
Select Create.
To help you quickly identify who may be able to help you handle a specific issue, Atlassian Intelligence suggests responders who have dealt with similar alerts before. This way, you can save time finding the right person and potentially resolve the issue more efficiently.
Atlassian Intelligence also suggests similar alert groups from the past based on their semantic similarity with the current one or tags used, to help you identify patterns or recurring issues over time. By comparing the current alert group with past ones, you can find out if a similar situation occurred before and understand how it was handled. This can improve your decision-making process and potentially lead to more efficient problem-solving.
If you decide to move your product data from one data residency location to another, any alert groups you previously had will be permanently deleted. This is because we currently don’t support moving group-related data. In the new location, however, Atlassian Intelligence will start creating groups from scratch.
As you go through the experience, use thumbs-up 👍 or thumbs-down 👎 for the Atlassian Intelligence-generated alert groups to let us know if they made sense to you or not. For example, if you believe a group of alerts isn’t accurate or incomplete, select the thumbs-down icon and share the details.
