Validate attributes with regular expressions

Assets in Jira Service Management is a Premium and Enterprise only feature. Learn more about Assets.

You can validate attributes of default type ‘Text’, ‘Email’ and ‘URL’ with regular expressions. This is useful if you want to set a validation on IP Addresses, domain names or any type of information that you need to validate. To configure attributes to require validation, you must be logged in as a Jira admin or have Object Schema Manager permissions.

  1. Select Assets in the top navigation bar.

  2. Select Object schemas.

  3. Select the relevant object schema.

  4. Select the relevant object type.

  5. Select Attributes.

  6. Select the gear icon next to the attribute and select Configure in the dropdown.

  7. Under the Validation tab, enter the regular expression used to validate the input.
