Set up roles for Data Manager

Assets Data Manager for Jira Service Management Cloud is currently rolling out in Open Beta and will be available to all Premium + Enterprise sites by end of October 2024.

This task requires Data Manager admin permissions to complete. How permissions and roles work in Data Manager.

Add a group or user to a role in Data Manager

To enable users or groups to do specific tasks in Data Manager, you must first add them to that role. To add a group or user to a role in Data Manager:

  1. Select Assets in the top navigation bar.

  2. Select Configuration under the Asset and configuration management title bar.

  3. Select the Data Manager tab.

  4. Under the Access section, select the field under Users or Groups for the relevant role and start typing to add new users or groups. This will add users or groups to the role.

  5. Hit the Enter key.

Only users and groups that are visible in Assets in Jira Service Management will be visible to be added to roles in Data Manager.

Remove a group or user from a role in Data Manager

To remove a group of user from a role in Data Manager:

  1. Select Assets in the top navigation bar.

  2. Select Configuration under the Asset and configuration management title bar.

  3. Select the Data Manager tab.

  4. Under the Access section:

    1. If you want to remove a user, select the User column and choose the user you want to remove, then click the 'x' next to their name.

    2. If you want to remove a group, select the Group column and choose the group you want to remove, then click the 'x' next to their name.
