What are custom roles?

The feature described in this article is currently rolling out to some Jira Service Management Cloud customers. It may not yet be visible or available on your site.

Custom roles are a way to customize the capabilities of the users in a team that handles operations by granting or revoking the permissions of your choice. Custom user roles are only available for the Standard, Premium, and Enterprise plans of Jira Service Management.

Permissions for custom roles

The following table describes the permissions that you can apply to customize user roles:

Escalate to next

Ability to escalate an alert that the user can view to the next level

Snooze

Ability to snooze an alert that the user can view

Update alert message

Ability to update the message in an alert the user can view

Acknowledge all

Ability to run Acknowledge all action on the alerts that the user can view

Assign

Ability to assign an alert that the user can view to another user

Create Alert

Ability to create an alert

Delete note from alert

Ability to delete note from an alert that the user can view

Execute custom actions

Ability to execute custom actions on an alert that the user can view

Take ownership

Ability to take ownership of an alert that the user can view

Update alert priority

Ability to update the priority of an alert that the user can view

Add note to alert

Attach to alert

Ability to add a file as an attachment to an alert that the user can view

Create issue

Ability to create an issue against an alert

Edit details

Ability to add new detail to or remove an existing detail from an alert that the user can view

Grant visibility

Ability to grant permissions for viewing alerts to the user

UnAcknowledge

Ability to unacknowledge an alert that the user can view

Update note in alert

Ability to update the note in an alert that the user can view

Add responder

Ability to add responders when creating an alert

Close

Ability to close an alert that the user can view

Delete alert

Ability to delete an alert that the user can view

Edit tags

Ability to add a new tag to or to remove an existing tag from an alert that the user can view

Link issue/ticket

Ability to link issues or tickets to an alert that the user can view

Update alert description

Ability update the description of an alert the the user can view
