To edit a reference that applies to all schemas in Assets (called global references), you need to be logged in as an Assets admin with Jira or Jira Service Management access.

To edit references to an individual schema, you must also have Object Schema Manager permissions.

Edit references for all schemas

  1. From the app switcher, select Assets.

  2. Select Settings ().

  3. Select Assets settings.

  4. From your settings sidebar, select Global references.

  5. Select the field to edit. You can edit the Display name (the name shown to users), the Name (the system identifier), the Description, or the Color, then make your changes.

Editing the Display name only changes how the reference appears to users and is safe. Editing the Name can affect AQL queries, automations, and integrations that reference it, so Assets warns you before saving.
