Configure Default Computed Dictionaries

Assets Data Manager for Jira Service Management Cloud is currently rolling out in Open Beta and will be available to all Premium + Enterprise sites by end of October 2024.

This task requires Data Manager admin permissions to complete. How permissions and roles work in Data Manager.

Computed Dictionaries are a feature that allows users to standardize the terminology from multiple data sources by comparing it against a list of normalized values.

In Assets Data Manager, there are Default Computed Dictionaries and Custom Computed Dictionaries. The following instructions are for Default Computed Dictionaries only:

Create Default Computed Dictionaries

Default Computed Dictionaries are created automatically when all of the computed Default Attributes for that Object Class are mapped and you save the mapping of that Object Class for the first time.

Each Object Class has different Default Attributes:

  • Compute - this object type represents a computer, device, or server.

  • Network - this object type represents a network or device, like a router or firewall.

  • People - this object type represents a user.

  • Software - this object type represents software products.

  • Peripherals - this object type represents hardware such as printers or mice.

To Create Default Computed Dictionaries:

  1. From within Data Manager, go to Cleanse & Import.

  2. Select > Mapping.

  3. Click Save.

The action of saving an existing Object Class mapping will trigger the system to check the Computed Dictionaries and initiate the downloading of updated versions of any Computed Dictionary.

Sync Default Computed Dictionaries

After creating Default Computed Dictionaries, you must Sync them to get the latest data. To sync Default Computed Dictionaries:

  1. From within Data Manager, go to Settings.

  2. Select Computed Dictionary. When the page opens, there will be a ⚠️ in front of OSVersion and Platform.

  3. Use the > Sync option to get the latest values.
