Create an object type

Assets is included with Service Collection Paid plans (Standard, Premium, and Enterprise). What Assets is and how it works.

Display name is currently restricted to customers enrolled in the Beta trial of the Assets common data model. Some details may change before general availability.

To create an object type in Assets, you must be logged in as an Assets admin with Jira or Jira Service Management and have Object Schema Manager permissions.

  1. Go to the app switcher and select Assets.

  2. From your sidebar, select Schemas.

  3. Select an object schema.

  4. In the Schema Tree, select the () icon at top.

  5. A window will pop up:

    1. Enter a Display name for the object type — this is the name shown to users. Assets derives a system Name from it for use in AQL, APIs, and automations; you can edit the derived Name before saving.

    2. Select an Icon for the object type.

    3. Select a Parent object type.

      1. If ‘None’ is selected, the object type will be created at the root level in the object schema.

    4. Enter a Description for the object type.

    5. Select Create.

      1. To Create another object type immediately after, select the checkbox before.
