We're updating our terminology in Jira

'Issue' is changing to 'work item'. You might notice some inconsistencies while this big change takes place.

Rank work items on your board manually

As an admin, you can allow your team to rank work items on your board by dragging and dropping them. By ranking work items, you arrange them according to their relative importance or urgency. For example, when you have two work items that are of 'High' priority, you can choose to place one above the other on your board.

When you allow work item ranking, “Order by rank” is applied to the board filter query. To turn off work item ranking, you need to edit the filter directly.

You must be a Jira admin, project admin or board admin to enable work item ranking.

  1. From your board select More actions (), then Configure board.

  2. Select General settings in the settings menu.

  3. Select Filter details, then Allow work item ranking.
