The Cleanse operation filters duplicate, erroneous, or unneeded information from your staged data. Cleansing is done by running a number of cleansing rules against the staged data.

Cleansing performs the following operations on your data source, in sequence:

  1. Validation - this step is to ensure that the table in the staging database is valid.

  2. Table Preparation - the table is prepared for cleansing functions to be run.

  3. Cleansing rules - for each rule you have defined in Cleanse and Import > Cleansing rules, a row will appear here showing the results of the cleansing rule and the runtime.

  4. Post-Run - the table is prepared for finalisation.

  5. Finalise - changes are saved to the underlying database.

Data must be mapped before it can be Cleansed or Imported.
