Manage visibility of topics in a help center

Once you’ve created topics, you can also manage their visibility in your help center’s home page. For instance, a topic that contains information that is seasonal in nature can be hidden from the home page for a specific time duration and made visible as and when you need to. Or, if you aren’t ready to make a topic go live on your help center, you can still create the topic and hide it till you are ready to publish it.

You need to be a Jira admin to manage topics and their visibility in the help center.

To hide a topic:

1. Go to Settings () > Products > Jira Service Management > Configuration.

2. In the Help center section, select View all help centers.

3. Select the help center of your choice.

4. Once in the help center, select your avatar, and from the dropdown, select Page layout.

5. Once you’re in the Edit home page layout page, hover over the topic you want to hide and select the Hide from home page icon ( ). Remember that this doesn’t hide this topic from the home page yet.

6. Select Publish layout in the Edit home page layout page to hide the topic from the home page of your help center.

   • You can revert to the last published version of the home page layout by selecting Cancel. You’ll lose all the changes you’ve made to the layout up until then. Topics you may have hidden in that session will continue to be visible in your help center.

To make a hidden topic visible in your home page:

1. Go to Settings () > Products > Jira Service Management > Configuration.

2. In the Help center section, select View all help centers.

3. Select the help center of your choice.

4. Once in the help center, select your avatar, and from the dropdown, select Page layout.

5. Once you’re in the Edit home page layout page, go to the Hidden section under Topics.

6. Hover over the topic you want to change visibility for and select the Show in home page icon ( ). Remember that this doesn’t make this topic visible on your home page yet.

7. Select Publish layout in the Edit home page layout page to make the topic visible on the home page of your help center.

   • You can revert to the last published version of the home page layout by selecting Cancel. You’ll lose all the changes you’ve made to the layout up until then.
