Sync incident details with responder alerts

This article refers to features that are currently rolling out. To find out when these features will be live on your site, keep an eye on our release notes or the Atlassian Community.

If you’ve enabled responder alerts in your service project, Jira Service Management creates a responder alert in Opsgenie every time an incident is created in your project. By default, there’s no data sync between your service project and Opsgenie. The responder alert created in your Opsgenie account only displays the link to the incident.

To be precise, syncing incident details means;

  • The Summary field of the incident will be displayed on the Alert message field of the responder alert.

  • The Description field of the incident will be displayed in the Description field of the responder alert for up to 15000 characters. If the incident description is longer than 15000 characters, users will need to switch back to their service project.

You’re authorizing a data transition between your Jira Service Management and Opsgenie accounts by syncing incident details. If you stop the syncing, the already synced data will remain in Opsgenie.

To sync incident details with responder alerts:

  1. From your Jira Service Management, go to Settings () > Products > IT service project settings.

  2. Scroll down to the Responder alerts. Turn on the Use incident details when creating a responder alert option.

You need to be a Jira admin to perform this action.

Turning this option on will affect all your projects in your Jira Service Management.
