Create a reference

Insight in Jira Service Management is a Premium and Enterprise only feature. It is compatible only with company-managed projects. Learn more about Insight.

A reference is an attribute that allows you pick another object as a value. When creating a new reference you must select the object type that you want to reference.

To create an reference, you must be logged in as a Jira admin or have Object Schema Manager permissions.

  1. From your service project, go to Insight > Object schemas.

  2. Select the relevant object schema.

  3. Select the relevant object type.

  4. Select Attributes.

  5. In the listing of attributes, enter a Name and Description.

  6. In the listing of attributes, under Type enter Object, and under Type Value select the object type you want to reference.

  7. In the listing of attributes, under Additional Value, select the Reference Type of this reference. Learn more about how to add, edit, and delete different types of references.

  8. Select Add.
