An object class is a group of objects that represent similar items (eg assets, configuration items, people, etc).. Each object in an object class contains the same set of attributes. These attributes can be system defaults or user-generated based on what’s been discovered in the source and mapped accordingly. The value of these attributes can be Null/NotMapped.

Currently, Data Manager contains the following object classes:

  • Compute - this object type represents a computer, device, or server.

  • Network - this object type represents a network or device, like a router or firewall.

  • People - this object type represents a user.

  • Software - this object type represents software products.

  • Peripherals - this object type represents hardware such as printers or mice.

Objects and object classes in Data Manager are different than the objects and object types found in schemas in Assets in Jira Service Management.

You can convert Data Manager objects into schema objects by importing your data from Data Manager into a schema.
