Create a reference that includes child objects

Assets in Jira Service Management is a Premium and Enterprise only feature. Learn more about Assets.

A reference is an attribute that allows you pick another object as a value. When creating a new reference you must select an object type that you want to reference. Learn more about creating references.

If you select an object type that has object type children, you can also reference these children in a reference by configuring the Include Children flag in the attribute configuration screen:

  1. From your service project, go to Assets > Object schemas.

  2. Select the relevant object schema.

  3. Select the relevant object type.

  4. Select Attributes.

  5. Select the gear iconnext to the attribute and select Configure in the dropdown.

  6. Under the General tab, select Include Children

    1. Note: the attribute must have children to see this option - i.e. an object type created under this object type.
