Validate object attributes in quick object creation

Insight in Jira Service Management is a Premium and Enterprise only feature. It is compatible only with company-managed projects. Learn more about Insight.

When you are creating a new object, you can enter details about that object in the ‘Create Object’ dialog box. These details could include text or numerical information, or even references to other objects. If you Enable quick creation of referenced objects you can both create and reference an object in one action, simply by entering a new label into any object reference field on the ‘Create Object’ dialog box.

Because these newly created objects may have mandatory fields or validations in place, you can select Validate object attributes in quick object creation to enforce any requirements, and block the creation of new objects.

To validate object attributes in quick object creation, you must be logged in as a Jira admin or have Object Schema Manager permissions.

There are two ways to enable this feature:

From the Insight > Object schemas list view:

  1. Select Configure next to the relevant schema.

  2. Under the General tab, select Validate object attributes in quick object creation.

From within an object schema:

  1. Select Object schema in the top right and select Configure in the dropdown.

  2. Under the General tab, select Validate object attributes in quick object creation.
