We're updating our terminology in Jira

'Issue' is changing to 'work item'. You might notice some inconsistencies while this big change takes place.

Send notifications from a custom domain email address

Email notifications can be sent directly from Jira Service Management or from your own domain.

You must be a project admin to configure sender address for your service project to send notification emails.

To configure a custom email address for your service project to send notifications:

  1. From your service project, select Project settings, then Notifications, then Internal notifications.

  2. Select Edit next to the email address.

  3. On the notification email page, select Edit next to the email card.

  4. From the Email drop-down, choose a custom email address, or use the default Jira cloud email.

  5. Alternatively, you may customise the email prefix if you choose to use the default Jira cloud email address.

  6. Select Save.

The custom email address will now be used as the sender address in all email notifications sent by this service project. Learn more about configuring Jira cloud to send emails on behalf of your domain.

The custom email addresses you can use for the service project must be added at admin.atlassian.com by your organization admins. Learn more about the steps for setting up custom email addresses.

For security reasons, some email prefixes are restricted. Here are some of the restricted email prefixes: "admin", "administrator", "webmaster", 2 "hostmaster", "postmaster", "ssladmin", "ssladministrator", "root", "abuse".

If your organization admin changes your help center’s domain, it won’t automatically change the outbound email address of your project.
