Download and extract Assets Discovery
Before you begin
You must have Jira Admin permissions as well as administrator permissions on your Windows or Linux system to install Assets Discovery.
Assets Discovery requires both Jira Service Management and Assets in Jira Service Management to function.
Please read the system requirements before installing Assets Discovery.
Assets Discovery is available in the form of a package that contains executables for Assets Discovery and the Assets Discovery collector. Before you run Assets Discovery, you must unpack this package into a directory on your local system.
Download the latest version of Assets Discovery from the Atlassian Marketplace.
Create a directory to hold the tool. Please note that Assets Discovery Tool must be able to both read and write data within this directory.
For Windows users, we recommend creating a new directory in C:\Program Files.
For Unix users, we recommend creating a new directory in /opt/.
Extract all of the files from the Assets Discovery package into your directory.
How to use Assets Discovery
Download and extract theAssets Discovery software package.
Prepare Assets Discovery by configuring common settings, patterns, scan settings, and credentials.
Run Assets Discovery.
The resulting data can be transferred to a different location using the Asset Discovery collector, or manually imported into Assets in Jira Service Management.
You must have Jira admin permissions - as well as administrator permissions on your Windows or Linux system - to use these tools.
