Get started with Jira Service Management for admins
Your first stop for learning how to get started with Jira Service Management.
Jira admins can create a new workflow and map it to an existing issue type. The process for doing this depends on whether the issue type is in the project you’re working in or in another project on your site.
To create a workflow and map it to an issue type that is in the project you’re working in:
Select Settings, then select Issues.
Select Workflows in the navigation on the left.
Select Add workflow, then select Create new.
Give your workflow a name and description. We recommend giving your workflow a name that describes the workflow and is similar to the name of the issue type you want to map it to.
Add statuses and transitions to create your workflow:
Select Add status to add a new step to the workflow (you can add existing statuses or create new ones).
Select Add transition or drag from a node on one status to another to add a transition.
From your service project, select Project settings, then Request management, then Workflows.
Select Add workflow, then select Add existing.
Find and select the workflow you just created, then select Next.
Select the issue type you want to map the workflow to, then select Finish.
Select Publish.
Select Associate.
Select Acknowledge.
To create a workflow and map it to an issue type that is not in your current project:
