Create a service

You must be on a service project created from the IT service management template to access Services.

Create and connect a new service using the affected services field, which allows for searching and linking services to Jira issues.

Before you begin, you'll need to set up deployment tracking.

To create and connect a service:

  1. From your service project, select Services.

  2. Select Create service.

  3. Choose the Name and Tier of your service.

  4. Choose the Change approvers for the service. This is the group of people who will be required to approve any changes that might affect this service. Learn how to create and edit groups.

  5. Choose Responders of the service. This is the group of people who will be added to the incident as responders, when this service becomes the affected service of that incident. Learn more about incident responders.

  6. Choose Stakeholders of the service. Similar to responders, these people will be added to the incident as stakeholders, when this service becomes the affected service of that incident. Learn more about incident stakeholders.

  7. Select a Repository if you wish to connect your service to a CI/CD deployment tool.

  8. Select a Type for your service. This label is purely designed to categorise the nature of the service has no technical impact on the service. Currently, a service can be categorised as a software service, business service, application, or a capability.

  9. Add a Description of your service if desired.

  10. Select Create.

If you are using an alternative CI/CD tool to Bitbucket, Copy the service's ID and add this to your deployment pipeline’s configuration.
