View changes to an import configuration

Insight in Jira Service Management is a Premium and Enterprise only feature. Learn more about Insight.

You can use inspect configuration to view information about any objects or attributes that are missing or have been changed since the import configuration was last executed.

Inspect configuration will not function if you have not executed the import configuration at least once.

Before you begin

  1. You must prepare your data.

  2. Create an import configuration.

  3. Map your data into Insight. There are two options:

    1. Map your data automatically, using a Predefined structure and configuration, or;

    2. Map your data manually:

      1. Use object type mapping to create Insight object types

      2. Use object type attribute mapping to create Insight attributes and references

      3. Use child object type mapping to create hierarchical parent and child structures.

  4. After you have created your object type mappings you must enable them. The import configuration will not be executable until all object type mappings are set to ENABLED. Right-click on your object type mapping and click Enable to enable the new object mapping(s).

  5. Execute the import.

View changes to an import configuration

  1. Select an Object schema.

  2. Select Configure > Import tab.

  3. Select an Import configuration.

  4. Select the gear icon next to the import configuration and select Execute Import.

  5. Click Inspect configuration.

  6. The Inspection Results will appear. For each object type or attribute in the import configuration, this screen will show if the value is CHANGED or MISSING, and the new value. If there are no changed or missing elements, you will get a cheery message that says: “No differences found, everything is fine.”
