Create a predefined structure and configuration

Insight in Jira Service Management is a Premium and Enterprise only feature. It is compatible only with company-managed projects. Learn more about Insight.

Importing is a way to bring outside data into Insight and automatically convert it into Insight object types, objects, attributes and references.

If you are importing formatted information such as JSON, CSV, or Discovery files, you can quickly create object types, objects, attributes and references from your data by using a predefined structure and configuration.

Before you begin

  1. You must prepare your data for importing into Insight.

  2. You must create an import configuration.

  3. If you want to only use the predefined configuration, you must create one or more object types to hold the newly-created objects. If you want to use both the predefined structure and predefined configuration, a parent object type will be created for you.

Creating a predefined structure and configuration

  1. Select an Object schema.

  2. Select Configure, then choose the Import tab.

  3. Under the Import tab, select the relevant import configuration. Select the gear icon ⚙ next to the import configuration and select Create Predefined Structure in the dropdown.

  4. Select an Object Type under Create Predefined Structure. The predefined structure and configuration will be created based on the data imported.

  5. Select Create predefined Insight structure.

  6. Select an Object Type under Create Predefined Configuration.

  7. Select Create predefined configuration.

  8. Select Close.

Next steps

  1. After you have created your object type mappings you must enable them. The import configuration will not be executable until all object type mappings are set to ENABLED. Right-click on your object type mapping and Select Enable to enable the new object mapping(s).

  2. Execute the import.
