Create, edit, or delete a service
Services are only available on Standard, Premium, and Enterprise plans. It's not included in the Free plan.
Create a service
To create a service,
From Jira Service Management,
Go to Operations from the left side bar and select Services.
Select Create service.
If you are accessing from Assets, select Create from the top nav.
From both entry points, a modal appears that lets you enter details about your new service. You don't need to fill in every field right away. Owner team, Change approvers, Responders, and Stakeholders are all optional and can be added later.
3. Add a Name unique to your schema.
4. Select the Service type and Tier.
5. Select the Owner team for the service. This is the team designated as the service's owners.
6. Select Change approvers who must approve any changes to the service before they're made. Learn more about change management
7. Select Responders who are notified if something goes wrong with the service. Learn more about responders
8. Select Stakeholders who need to stay informed about incident progress to take precautions and actions, even if they're not directly responding. Learn more about stakeholders
Jira Admins can now directly manage stakeholders from the site and send email communications during the incident lifecycle. Read more about incident stakeholders.
9. Optionally, add a Description for your service.
10. Select Create.
If you've added custom attributes to your object type, they'll also appear in the Create Service modal. You can fill in these details now or add them later.
Edit a service
To edit a service,
From Jira Service Management
Go to Operations from the left side bar and select Services.
Select the service you want to edit.
Update the relevant attributes in the panel, then select Save.
From Assets,
Go to Assets and search for the service name.
Update the relevant attributes, then select Save.
Delete a service
To delete a service,
From Jira Service Management
Go to Operations from the left side bar and select Services.
Select the service you want to delete.
Select More actions (•••), then Delete service
Follow the prompts to delete your service.
From Assets,
Go to Assets and search for the service name.
Select More actions (•••), and then select Delete.
