What’s different in the Modern help center
This topic is about Modern help centers. Find out which help center you're using.
The Modern help center is a new version of the help center in Jira Service Management. In a Modern help center, you customize everything in one editor that opens over the help center itself. You can brand the whole help center, organize its pages into a site tree with its own navigation, and build pages from components such as cards and spotlights.
If you've customized a Legacy help center, many tasks work differently in a Modern help center. This page shows what's new, what's changed and what stays the same.
What's new in a Modern help center
In a Modern help center, you can:
Edit on the page. You make all your changes in the editor, where you can see them in place, then publish them when you're ready.
Theme the whole help center. In Global styles, set brand colors, fonts, corners and spacing, a logo and the navigation bar, and they apply across every page.
Organize pages in a site tree. Group pages into folders, which show as dropdown menus in the help center's navigation.
Customize the navigation bar. Change its colors, border, padding and how it behaves when customers scroll.
Build pages from components. Drag components such as a callout banner, cards, a carousel, spotlights, sections and JSM Help onto a page. Find out what each component does.
Add content from apps. Apps built with Forge or Connect can add a custom header or footer to your pages.
Configure each help center separately. Each Modern help center has its own configuration, so what one help center shows doesn't change another.

What stays the same
In a Modern help center:
Service spaces still own their content. You still create portals, request types, portal groups, knowledge base articles and external resources in each service space.
Space access is unchanged. Who can work in a service space is still set in the space.
Admin roles are unchanged. Site admins and Jira admins keep their roles, and only they can edit a Modern help center.
Customers can still search and raise requests. Search covers request forms and knowledge base articles from the service spaces linked to the help center. When Rovo is turned on, customers can also ask Rovo.
What isn't available yet
Some things you can do in a Legacy help center work differently or aren't available yet in a Modern help center:
Sections can be deleted, but not hidden.
Announcements aren't available.
