Manage hardware automations
Hardware asset management is available with Jira Service Management Premium and Enterprise.
To manage automations, you must have a hardware Administrator role, as well as permission to manage automation rules for the space or globally. When a rule changes hardware data, you also need Assets edit permissions on the hardware schema where your data resides.
Automations handle common hardware tasks for you — like lifecycle updates, stock alerts, and assignment workflows. Hardware automations are Jira automation rules; from Hardware settings you can tag the rules you want to track, turn them on or off, and check how they've run.
Automations are built and edited as Jira automation rules. Creating or editing a rule opens Jira automation; there's no separate rule editor inside hardware asset management.
Tag an automation
Tag hardware-related automations so you can track their status, ownership, and recent changes from one place.
In the left navigation, select Hardware, then open Hardware settings.
Select Automations.
Select Tag automation.
Choose the scope where your automation rules exist. The available rules for that scope appear.
Select the rules you want to tag. To build a new rule instead, select Create automation.
Select Tag. The rules now appear in your Automations list.
Enable or disable an automation
In Hardware settings, select Automations.
Find the rule you want to change. Use Search rule or the Scope filter to narrow the list.
Use the Enabled toggle to turn the rule on or off.
View a rule's audit log
In Hardware settings, select Automations.
Find the rule you want to check.
Select Audit log to see when the rule ran and what it did.
