We have two types of service desk projects: classic and next-gen. Classic projects come with power-user levels of configuration for expert users, but next-gen projects are easier to set up and simple to use.
Next-gen Jira Service Desks projects are simpler to set up than classic projects.
How to identify which project I'm in - classic or next-gen?
Classic projects share configuration across the Jira site. Next-gen projects have no schemes and screens and are independent.
Request types are based off issue types in classic, but are independent in next-gen.
Workflows are independent of request types in classic. Workflows are attached to each request type in next-gen.
Jira admins create configurations across all projects in classic. Project admins create and configure next-gen projects.
