Automatically add responder teams to incident chat channels

You can automatically add members of responder teams to an incident’s chat channel when the team is added as a responder. This ensures that the right people are included in the conversation without requiring manual management of channel membership.

This setting is enabled by default and applies to incident chat channels created through Jira Service Management.

Configure automatic responder addition

Slack

To automatically add responder team members to incident Slack channels:

  1. In your space, go to Space settings > Incident management.

  2. Scroll down to Communication preferences.

  3. Select Slack > Channel settings.

  4. Turn on Add all responders to the incident Slack channel.

When enabled, all members of a responder team will be automatically added to the linked Slack channel when the team is added to the incident.

Microsoft Teams

To automatically add responder team members to incident Microsoft Teams chats:

  1. In your space, go to Space settings > Incident management.

  2. Scroll down to Communication preferences.

  3. Select MS Teams > Chat settings.

  4. Turn on Add all responder team members to the incident chat.

When enabled, all members of a responder team will be automatically added to the linked Microsoft Teams chat when the team is added to the incident.

This setting is enabled by default for service spaces

Turning it off prevents responder team members from being automatically added to incident channels in Slack and Microsoft Teams.
