Use block templates in Jira

Block templates help you reuse sections of content (such as tables, summary panels, or status updates) without rebuilding them from scratch. Instead of setting up the same structure every time, you can drop a ready-made block into a work item description in one step.

In Jira, you can insert block templates into a work item description. This includes templates that Atlassian provides out of the box, as well as any templates created in Confluence.

Block templates vs other Jira features

  • Work item templates define a whole new work item. A block template is a reusable piece of content you add inside a description.

  • Synced blocks keep the same content in sync across places. A block template gives you a reusable structure to copy and edit — each copy is independent.
