Use the agentic engineering template to integrate coding agents in your workflow

Let AI agents handle the routine coding work so your team can focus on what matters most. The agentic engineering template in Jira provides a ready-made space setup, complete with a workflow optimized for agents like Jira Coding Agent, Claude Code, and GitHub Copilot for Jira, so you can start automating coding tasks from day one.

You must have Atlassian Rovo enabled for your organization to see and use agentic templates in the template gallery.

To create an agentic engineering space:

  1. Hover over Spaces in the sidebar, then select Create space ().

  2. Select Software development from the categories in the template gallery.

  3. Select the Agentic engineering template.

  4. Review the template details and select Use template.

  5. Enter a name for your space, and select a space type: either Team-managed or Company-managed.

  6. Select an access setting for your space (either Open, Private, or Limited).

  7. Select the work types, statuses, and views you’d like to use for the new space. You can change these later.

  8. Select Create space to view your new space.

Your new space will include sample data and onboarding tasks to help you install and configure your first coding agent. You can find these tasks in the To Do column of your new board.

For example, a software engineering lead might use this template to quickly set up a new workflow where bug fixes and improvements are automatically assigned to a coding agent.
