Get started with Jira Cloud and Slack

The Jira app is located in the Apps section of your Slack sidebar, alongside your channels and DMs. The Home tab shows the following sections:

• Assigned to me: All open work items currently assigned to you.

• Watching: Work items you're following for visibility.

For any work item listed on the Home tab, you can select More actions () to do any of the following:

• Start or stop watching the work item

• Assign it to yourself or someone else

• Transition its status (for example, from To Do to In Progress to Done)

• Comment on it directly

Invite your teammates

The Jira Cloud for Slack app allows you to invite your teammates without leaving your workspace.

Invite a teammate from Slack

If you add a Jira link to a Slack channel where one or more users don't have Jira access, the app will prompt you to either invite them directly (if you can) or send a request to an admin to grant them access. Admins can review these requests in Atlassian Administration or directly in Slack.

If you receive a Jira link but don't have access to Jira, the app lets you request access from Slack. Admins can review and approve the request in Atlassian Administration or directly in Slack.

Invite a teammate from Jira

When inviting users to Jira from Jira, you can invite teammates directly from your Slack workspace. Go to People, then select Invite a teammate, then Connect teammates from, then select Slack.
