Create and update Jira work from Slack

With the Jira Cloud for Slack app installed, you can create a Jira work item from a Slack message using the message action menu. This flow is available with or without Rovo. If Rovo is available, it can pre-fill the summary and description from the thread context. If Rovo isn’t available, you can enter those fields manually.

Create a work item from Slack

1. Hover over any message in a channel or thread.

2. [More actions] () を選択します。

3. Select Create work item from Jira Cloud.

   1. If Rovo is available, toggle Use Rovo to generate the summary and description on. The app remembers your preference for next time.

4. Review the auto-filled summary and description, or fill them in yourself if you didn't use Rovo.

5. Fill in any remaining fields (space, work type, etc.).

View work items in link preview cards

Whenever anyone pastes a Jira work item link into a Slack channel, the Jira Cloud for Slack app automatically unfurls it into a link preview card. This card always shows the latest data from the work item.

And, if you type a work item key from a particular space (e.g. MSD-19) in a channel that's connected to the same Jira space, Slack will automatically detect it and show the preview card. Make sure you type the work item key in uppercase letters.

From the preview card, you can:

• See all key fields: Status, priority, assignee, labels, description.

• Edit any field inline.

• Summarize the work item: Rovo AI generates a quick summary you can share with the team.

• Refresh: Select refresh on any card to pull the latest data from Jira.

• Watch the work item to get updates in that channel.

• Sync the thread: Push all replies in the thread as comments to Jira.

• Add to work item: Share any Slack message to an existing Jira work item as a comment.
