Run a standup meeting in Jira
Use the standups feature in your Jira software space to run efficient daily standups directly from your board. With a built-in timer, speaker rotation, and visual grouping of work items, it’s easier than ever to keep your team on track.
The “Start standup” feature is available on Jira boards. People will appear in the standup list as long as they’re a member of the space and they have at least one work item assigned to them from the board.
Run a standup in Jira
To start a standup meeting in Jira:
Go to your team’s board.
Select More actions (), then select Start standup. You’ll see a list of team members and their assigned work, grouped by status (To Do, In Progress, Done).
Select a person’s name from the Standup list to filter the board so that it only shows work assigned to that person.
Select Play () to begin a 2-minute countdown for the first speaker.
Select Pause () to pause the timer, or Stop () to reset the timer.
When time’s up, you can manually move to the next speaker. A green tick appears on completed speakers.
Select End standup to finish.
Customize your standup
Select the speaker () to mute or unmute the timer sounds.
Select Remove () next to a user to move their name to the end of the list. To add them back, hover over their name and select Add to standup ().
To add a new user during the standup:
Select Unassigned from the list of users in the standup list to filter the board so that it shows unassigned work.
Assign a work item to the user you want to add, and their name will appear in the standup list.
Alternatively, you can create a new work item and assign it to the user.
Select Customize to view the following options:
Change the density of the speaker list from Default to Compact.
Enable or disable the timer (by default, it’s enabled).
Enable or disable automatic shuffling of the speaker order every time you start a standup.
