We’re updating our terminology in Jira

The term ‘project’ will soon be replaced with 'space'. You may notice some inconsistencies while we make this change.

Add people to team-managed spaces

This page is for team-managed spaces

To check whether your space is team-managed or company-managed, select More actions (•••) next to the space name in either the header or the sidebar. At the bottom of the menu that opens, your space details will be shown.

If you're in a company-managed space, check out these company-managed space articles instead.

More about the difference between company-managed and team-managed space.

In team-managed spaces, any permission or access you want to give people in your space is controlled on the Access page. Here you can add people to your space and give them a role so they can start collaborating on your team’s work.

このページには次の情報が表示されます。

To view the Access page:

  1. Next to the name of your space in the sidebar, select More actions (•••), then Space settings.

  2. Select Access.

Or, access and roles can be set when you choose to Share from a view.

You can't edit space permissions or roles on the Free plan for Jira, and you can't configure work-level security on any Free plan (including Jira Service Management). Find out more about how space permissions work in Free plans. To take advantage of Jira's powerful space permission management features, upgrade your plan.

You must have the following to do the things described on this page.

Role: Administrator

Add people to your team-managed software space

Your space's access level sets the general access and role of anyone logged into your Jira site. You can fine-tune this access by adding specific people or groups to your space. Then, give these people a distinct role to control what they can do in your space.

Usually, roles grant permissions people don't inherit from your space's access level. Or, they grant stable permissions for core team members if your access level changes.

Set access levels when you share

To give people or teams specific access and/or additional roles in your space:

  1. Select Share () from the space navigation or work item.

  2. Set the Space access.

  3. When you enter a user or team, you can select the role in your space from the Role dropdown.

  4. Confirm your selections to share the space with the desired people.

Set access levels in space settings

To give people or groups specific access and additional roles in your space:

  1. Next to the name of your space in the sidebar, select More actions (•••), then Space settings.

  2. Select Access, then select Add people.

  3. 名前、グループ、またはメール アドレスを入力します。

  4. Select the person’s role in your space from the Role dropdown.

  5. [追加] を選択します。

Jira administrators (anyone with the Administer Jira global permission) always have access to your space's settings.

People and groups can have more than one role in your space. Roles you assign in the Access page do not override the role granted by your space's access level. Instead, roles grant permissions in addition to what people inherit from your access level. Find out about setting your space’s access level.

Remove a person from your team-managed space

To remove someone from your space:

  1. Next to the name of your space in the sidebar, select More actions (•••), then Space settings.

  2. Select Access.

  3. 表のユーザーのエントリで、[削除] を選択します。

If you’ve given any site-wide groups a role in your space, you may want to double check with your Jira admin that the unwanted person doesn’t still have access through one of those groups.

Removing someone from a space doesn't remove them from Jira entirely. Jira admins and site admins can do that through your site's user management settings
