Open a Jira work item in an AI coding tool

This page is for software spaces

To check whether you’re in a software or business space, select More actions (•••) next to the space name in either the header or the sidebar. At the bottom of the menu that opens, your space details will be shown.

Deep linking opens your Jira work item in your local coding tool and automatically passes the summary and description. This allows you to move from planning to coding without manually copying details between apps.

Before you begin

  1. Install a supported coding tool on your device.

  2. Connect the Atlassian Rovo MCP to your coding tool (optional). This allows your local agent to gather context from Jira and Confluence and update work items as work progresses. Read more about Atlassian Rovo MCP Server
