If you’re creating or editing an issue and don’t know who to assign it to, you can choose the Automatic option for the Assignee field, which will do one of the following:
If there are component(s) on an issue, the issue will be assigned to the Default assignee of one of the components. Project admins can change the Default assignee of components by going to a project and then selecting Project settings > Components. Learn more about organizing work with components.
If there are no components with default assignees on an issue, the issue will be assigned to the project’s Default assignee. Admins can change the project’s Default assignee by going to a project and then selecting Project settings > Details.
