Jira Automation docs have moved

All content related to Jira Cloud Automation, previously under the Automate your Jira processes and workflows section, have moved to the new Cloud Automation docs.

Go to Cloud Automation documentation | Why did we do this?

Add color to issues on your Advanced Roadmaps timeline

This page refers to Advanced Roadmaps, which is a cross-project planning tool only available as part of Jira Software Cloud Premium and Enterprise.

We have a separate section for documentation about the project roadmap that’s included in all Jira Software plans. Go to the documentation for project-level roadmaps in Jira Software.

To change the color of your timeline bars:

  1. Navigate to View settings menu

  2. Select which metric you’d like to color using the Color by dropdown menu. To switch back to the default gray, select None.

You can color code schedule bars on your timeline bars based on:

  • project

  • status

  • team

  • issue type

  • priority

  • components

  • labels

  • other configured custom fields

Components, labels, and custom fields are only available if they’ve been configured in your site. Learn more on the Enable custom fields used in Advanced Roadmaps in Jira page.

For the default coloring options, Advanced Roadmaps automatically assigns colors to your schedule bars that can’t be changed.

For custom coloring options (including Component and Labels), you can choose your color scheme. Once you select your custom field, use the +Add color dialogue that appears beneath the dropdown to create your coloring scheme.
