Schedule parent work items on your timeline

This page is for software spaces

To check whether you’re in a software or business space, select More actions (•••) next to the space name in either the header or the sidebar. At the bottom of the menu that opens, your space details will be shown.

Parent work items on your timeline's timeline are scheduled using the Start date and Due date, regardless of whether you’re planning for scrum or kanban teams.

 

Start date and Due date are shown by default in the work item of team-managed spaces, but need to be manually added for company-managed spaces. It’s required when planning for kanban teams, and also is a common cause of completed work items not showing on your timeline. Find out how to add these fields to your work item

 

When scheduling parent work items, you can manually set dates using either the dates fields or schedule bars. You can also choose to have a parent task inherit the dates of its children.

Schedule work items using the Start date and Due date fields

  1. Ensure that the Start date and Due date fields are visible in your work item.

  2. Select the work item that you wish to schedule from the Work items column, which will open the side info panel.

  3. Find the Start date and Due date fields in the work item panel, and change the dates.

Schedule work items using the schedule bars

  1. From your timeline view, place the schedule bar where you’d like. The default duration of work items depends on the timeframe setting on your timeline. If your timeline is set to:

    • Weeks - your work items will be 7 days long.

    • Months - your work items will be 14 days long.

    • Quarters - your work items will be 30 days long.

  2. スケジュール バーの端のどちらかをドラッグして、開始日または終了日を変更します。

または、スケジュール バーを右クリックして [日付を変更] メニューを開き、[開始日を削除]、[期限を削除]、または [両方の日付をクリア] を選択します。

Infer dates from child work items

親作業項目の "開始日" フィールドや "期限" フィールドが空の場合、タイムラインは子作業項目に割り当てられた日付に基づいて期間を推測します。これをロールアップと呼びます。これらの日付は子作業項目の日付が変更されると自動でアップデートされますが、日付が手動で設定されると上書きされます。
