Add tools to your project toolchain

Jira Software is a powerful tool, but it can’t do everything. To fill the gap, developers in our community build apps that extend features and/or integrate with third-party tools.

To help you discover the best apps in the latter category, the toolchain feature offers a shortlist of top-rated apps that integrate popular software development tools.

Discover the apps shortlist

  1. Go to Project settings > Toolchain

  2. Click Add > Add tool on the top right of the page

  3. The toolchain apps shortlist will pop open. From here you can:

    1. search by tool name (e.g., Github),

    2. browse by capability (e.g., plan, build, test)

    3. filter by installed apps

  4. Follow the prompts to add, install, or request apps. Actions will vary depending on the app status and your level of permission.

Add apps to your project

If an app is already installed, you can add it to your project toolchain in one click—no need to go through an installation or request flow. To add installed apps, click add to project.

Install apps to your site

If an app is not installed, you can add it to your project toolchain and install it in one flow, and then configure it later. This will make it make it available to all projects in the site. To install apps, click get it now (for free apps) or try it free (for paid apps).

If you don’t have permission, you’ll be prompted to send a request to your site admin.

Request apps for unsupported tools

If you don’t see an app for your tool, explore the Atlassian Marketplace or send a request to the Atlassian team. Let us know the tool name and as much detail as possible about what you would like the integration to do.

You must be a project admin to access the toolchain feature. Your team can access connected work within the code, project pages, and on-call features.
