Add and manage apps in your toolchain

The toolchain page makes it easy to discover, configure, and manage all the tool-based apps your team uses for a project. To help you get started with the best apps for your team, the toolchain page recommends secure apps that offer deep integration between Jira Software and popular third-party tools such as GitHub, GitLab, or Snyk.

Add apps to your project

From the toolchain page:

  1. Click Add and select Add tool.

  2. Search for the app you want or browse apps by category.

  3. Follow the prompts to add, install, or request apps.

Once added, the app will appear in your project toolchain.

Configure apps for your project

From the toolchain page:

  1. Click on the ⚙ icon of the app you want to configure.

  2. Select Get Started and/or Configure.

  3. Follow the prompts and/or instructions provided by the app developer.

Note that configuration for every app is different and requirements may vary according to your organization’s security protocols.

Remove apps from your project

From the toolchain page:

  1. Click on the ⚙ icon of the app you want to remove.

  2. Select Remove from project.

  3. If prompted, remove any repositories, spaces, or other connected items, and then try again.

This will remove the app from your project toolchain, but not the entire site. To remove an app from the site and all projects within in, go to Apps > Manage apps via the global navigation. You must have site-level permissions to perform this action.

To view the toolchain page, go to Project settings > Toolchain. You must be a project admin to access this page.
