Add and customize gadgets
Gadgets display summaries of team progress, reports, and other data from spaces and work items on a dashboard. You can customize gadgets to display particular space and work item details.
Built-in Jira gadgets have some limitations. They can’t display data across multiple Jira instances or combine multiple data sources into a single chart. For these scenarios, consider using third-party apps from the Atlassian Marketplace. View available built-in gadgets
Add a gadget
Before you begin
Make sure you're logged in as an admin.
Some apps allow dashboards that are shared by groups of people. If you have permission to update a shared dashboard, the other people with access to the dashboard will see your changes, too.
To add a gadget to a dashboard:
Select Dashboards from the sidebar, then select View all dashboards, then open the dashboard you want to add a gadget to.
Select Edit.
Select Add gadget.
Use the gadget wizard to browse the list of gadgets and select Add next to the gadgets you want to add.
The gadgets that you add will appear at the top of the leftmost column on your dashboard. You can configure each gadget to customize the data displayed and how often it refreshes. Double-check required fields are correctly setup.
For example, the Workload pie chart relies on fields such as Original estimate, Time spent, and Current estimate, not ‘Story points'. To display the chart, specify your space or a saved filter as the source for the work items that include these fields.
Add custom gadgets
In addition to our default gadgets, you can install gadgets from the Atlassian Marketplace or create your own. Adding gadgets to the directory is a restricted function in Jira Cloud. For advanced reporting and chart customization, consider third-party apps such as custom charts for Jira and eazyBI reports and charts.
Some third-party gadgets may rely on APIs that get deprecated over time or lack active support. Check compatibility and stay up to date with API updates to avoid disruptions.
Duplicate gadgets
When you're editing a dashboard, you can duplicate a gadget and its configuration to the same dashboard.
To duplicate a gadget:
Select Dashboards from the sidebar, then select View all dashboards, then open the dashboard you want to add a gadget to.
Select Edit.
Select More actions (...), then select Duplicate for the gadget you want to duplicate.
The duplicate gadget will appear at the top of the leftmost column on your dashboard.
