Manage and customize the project navigation

Control what your team sees in the project and board navigation. Display the tabs that are most useful and important to the team, and remove what’s not. Any changes that are made to the project navigation will be visible for everyone who has access to the project.

Project and board admins can customize the following:

  • Set the default view for the project or board

  • Rename tabs

  • Remove a tab from the navigation

  • Add a tab back to the navigation if it has been removed

  • Reorder the tabs.

Set the default view for your project

Your default view will be the tab that all members in your project will land on when they open the project. You can also set a default view for your board navigation.

You can set the following tabs as default views:

  • Backlog (software projects only)

  • Board

  • Timeline

  • List

  • Calendar

  • Summary

To set the default view for your project:

  1. Hover your cursor over the tab you want to set as your default.

  2. Select More actions ().

  3. Select Set as default.

Rename a tab

Customize your project by renaming your tabs to suit your team's needs. To rename a tab:

  1. Hover your cursor over the tab you want to rename.

  2. Select More actions ().

  3. Select Rename.

  4. Enter the new tab name and select enter.

Remove a tab from your navigation

You’re unable to remove a tab that has been set as the default. A project must always have a default tab. Set another tab as the default before removing it if you don’t want it to appear in the project navigation.

To remove a tab from your project navigation:

  1. Hover your cursor over the tab you want to remove.

  2. Select More actions ().

  3. Select Remove.

Add a tab to your navigation

To add a tab to the navigation in your project:

  1. Select the plus icon + in your project navigation

  2. Choose which tab you want to add, and select Add to navigation.

Another way you can add features to your project navigation, which therefore enables the feature for your project, is by:

  1. Next to your project's name in the sidebar, select More actions (•••), then Project settings.

  2. Select Features.

  3. Enable the feature that you’d like to appear in your project navigation.
