Keyboard shortcuts are a great way for you to speed up editing, navigating, and performing actions without having to navigate away from the keyboard.
Some keyboard shortcuts require additional permissions or applications. These shortcuts rely on the way permissions are configured for your account and the applications that are installed. Keyboard shortcuts for third-party apps may not integrate with Jira. Check out their support documentation to see what's possible.
The new Jira issue view supports a limited set of keyboard shortcuts (o to open the selected issue, a to assign the issue to someone, i to assign an issue to yourself, or m to quickly add a comment) for editing and updating issues. It also supports navigation with keyboard shortcuts (J = down, K = up, N = next column, and P = previous column).
Jira does not support keyboard shortcuts in all views
You can open the keyboard shortcuts dialog using either of the following methods:
Click Help > Keyboard shortcuts
Press the ? on your keyboard from any page (Shift + / )
The Keyboard shortcuts dialog is displayed and shows commands for the operating system and browser that you're using. The dialog is divided into sections for the following information:
Global shortcuts – shortcuts that can be used when you are in any part of Jira.
Navigating issues – shortcuts for navigating through issues.
Issue actions – shortcuts for working with issues.
App-specific – any application-specific shortcuts. These shortcuts only work in the listed application.
More about the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog...
If you have other Jira applications installed, you may have additional keyboard shortcuts available. For example, if you have Jira installed, you will see a series of additional keyboard shortcuts in the lower-right of this dialog box (and some additional Global keyboard shortcuts specific to Jira in the upper-left section). However, the keyboard shortcuts in the Agile Shortcuts section only function in Jira, and not across all Jira products.
If Jira's keyboard shortcuts don't speed up your work and you'd prefer to turn them off, you can do so via the keyboard shortcuts dialog.
Click Help > Keyboard shortcuts
Toggle the Keyboard shortcuts are enabled option in the dialog.
Some keyboard shortcuts require modifier keys to be pressed simultaneously, along with a single 'action' key. Modifier keys may differ, depending on your combination of operating system and web browser. The following table identifies the modifier keys for some supported web browsers and operating systems:
Windows: Alt + Shift
macOS: Ctrl + Alt/Option
Linux/Solaris: Alt + Shift

In Firefox, it is possible to customize 'Modifier key shortcuts'. Please read Mozilla's documentation for more information.

Typing a 'Modifier key shortcut' that leads to a link requires you to press the 'Enter' to complete the action.
