Use a custom template to create a new space

The following roles and permissions can create a space using custom templates:

• Jira administrators can create a space from both team‑managed and company‑managed space custom templates.

• Users with the “Can create team-managed spaces” global permission can create a space from team‑managed space custom templates.

• Any groups or users enabled by a Jira admin can also create a space from a custom template.

Create a new space with custom template

1. In the main navigation, go to the Spaces menu.

2. Select Create space.

3. On the templates screen, select Custom templates.

4. Choose the template you wish to use and select the Use template button.

5. Complete the space setup screens to start working on your space.

Manage spaces created from templates

Anyone creating a new space from a team-managed space template becomes a project owner and can configure their own space settings.

For a company-managed space:

• Users and groups will need permissions via the source space to access and configure space settings for a new space created with the template.

• Changes made to space settings will apply to any space created with the template, unless the template settings are customized and copied.
