Create a custom space template
Create a custom space template
Custom space templates are an exclusive Enterprise plan feature
Reduce space setup time by reusing settings from existing spaces. Only Jira admins can create a custom space template.
With custom space templates you can:
Share company-managed space settings (boards and shortcuts are copied).
Copy team-managed space settings
Settings included in custom space templates:
Boards, Work types, Fields, Workflows, Roles, Notifications, Permissions, Shortcuts, Issue Security
Not included:
Apps, Automations, Work items from the source space, Enabled features, Feature settings
Custom templates use the source space’s custom navigation (such as hidden or added views) and shortcut links.
Custom templates provide more autonomy for users creating Jira spaces. Copying workflows or screens - including both settings and underlying schemes - enables those using Manage Issue layouts and Edit workflows to customize settings within spaces that were created with custom templates. Jira admins can always change these settings too. This allows workflows, work item screens and layouts to be tailored around to the needs of those creating spaces with the template.
To get started with existing space templates:
Go to the source space and select More actions (•••).
Select Edit template.
From the template name and description screen, select Next.
Select the space settings you wish to make editable and select Save.
Creating a new company-managed custom template will offer the option to customize space template settings.
