Automatic performance optimization
When you edit a page that is very large or has a lot of content, Confluence can optimize the performance of the page by turning off certain features. This keeps the editor running smoothly, even if the page would normally be slow or unresponsive.
When performance mode is active, you will notice a few differences:
Table headers will not stay visible when you scroll through tables.
Some formatting options, like block formatting controls, are not available while editing.
Why does this happen?
Large or complex pages can make the editor slow to respond. You might notice delays when typing, clicking, or moving around the page. By temporarily turns off some features that can cause these slowdowns, Confluence lets you keep working without frustration.
How it works
You don't need to do anything to turn the optimization on. The editor automatically detects when a page is large enough to need it. This setting stays on for the rest of your editing session. When you finish editing or move to a smaller page, the editor will return to normal.
