Disable anonymous access to remote API

Administrators may wish to disable anonymous access to the Confluence Cloud remote API, to make it harder for malicious users to write "bots" that perform bulk changes to the site.

To disable anonymous access to the remote API:

  1. If you aren’t already there, go to your Confluence Cloud site.

  2. Select the settings wheel () in the top right corner to open site settings.

  3. Select Security Configuration from the sidebar (under Security).

  4. Select Edit.

  5. Uncheck the Anonymous Access to API check box.

  6. Select Save.

This page is about access to the remote API. If you're looking for info about preventing anonymous users from accessing Confluence Cloud, see Manage global permissions.
