Add, change, or remove people's access from your space
This article describes Confluence’s new role-based access model. This includes existing sites that signed up to participate in the beta for roles as well as new roles-only sites.
When roles are enabled in your Confluence instance, go to Confluence settings, then select Security, then Space permissions, then Manage roles, or go to the Users page in Space settings.
If you don’t see those in your experience, your instance hasn’t been enabled for roles yet.

Add people to your space
To add a new user, group, team, user class, or app to your space:
Go to Space settings, then Users.
Select Add people in the top right.
Search for a user, group, team, user class, or app then select Add.
Select Save.
View role permissions
To check the permissions assigned to role:
Access Confluence space settings.
Select Users from the sidebar.
Select the More actions (•••) icon in the top right, then select View role permissions.
To see a specific person’s role and permissions, select the More actions (•••) menu for them in the Users table and select Manage access.
Change people’s space access
To change a role for a user, group, team, user class, or app:
Open the role dropdown.
Select a different role.
Access will update as soon as you select the new role.
Remove people from your space
To remove a user, group, team, user class, or app from the space:
Open the More actions (•••) menu for the relevant item in the Users table.
Select Remove.
Select Remove again to confirm.
